Accepting Evangelicals – new campaigning group formed

Anglican evangelicals who are uncomfortable with the increasingly hard-line stance on gay and lesbian relationships within the Anglican Church have formed a new group. Those behind Accepting Evangelicals say the group was formed after other evangelical members of the Church of England began vocally protesting over the issue of whether to accept same-sex relationships, as well as the ongoing worldwide issue of lesbian and gay clergy.

The group says that while it is looking to engage directly with other evangelicals about the issues in question, it wants to redress the ” perception that all Evangelicals are opposed to same-sex relationships”.

The group organised a very successful fringe meeting at the General Synod meeting in York to discuss whether being evangelical and gay are mutually exclusive.
