Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) 2013

This is not so much a post, more of a reminder, should you need it, that Wednesday 20th November is Transgender Day of Remembrance. According to Wikipedia, worldwide a transgender person is murdered every three days, but Transgender Europe’s Trans Murder Monitoring Project reports that 238 Trans people were murdered in the past twelve months, and since 2008 it has documented 1,374 murders of trans people in 60 countries, 108 of whom were under the age of 20. Please light some candles and say some prayers on the 20th. Here’s a link to the TDoR Prayer

and another to access the Toolkit and other resources

I have attended two very moving TDoR services recently: one was held outdoors in a courtyard of my old college in Cambridge in 2011, and the other in an Oxford college chapel last November. It was very poignant being with young people on these occasions, especially when some of the names of those who have died were read out. It’s definitely a day for supporting one another! Love and prayers to you for TDoR 2013.
