Unadulterated Love – Stockport and London
Celebrating the gifts of LGB&T people in the Church

February 8, 2014, Stockport:
March 1, 2014, London:

Planning for these two events celebrating God’s unconditional love is progressing well. We are bringing together people with creative, inspirational gifts to make both days real celebrations of God’s unadulterated, infinite love in our lives, LGBT and straight.

Following publication of the Pilling Report the Church of England is faced with a stark choice – to celebrate the amazing gifts of LGB&T members, lay and ordained, in the Church or to suppress our gifts, wisdom, energy and vision. The two Unadulterated Love celebrations will be heart-centred days, prayerful and joyful, moving from drama, song and dance to conversation, reflection and contemplation and concluding with Communion.

Among the participants are Alan Wilson, Bishop of Buckingham (London), at least one diocesan bishop (Stockport), several retired bishops committed to Changing Attitude’s vision, Paris Lees (London), journalist, presenter, recently named as the UK’s most influential lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender figure who topped the IoS 2013 Pink List, John Pfumojena, rising Zimbabwean actor and singer who has just auditioned for The Lion King, Rachel Mann (Stockport), priest, poet, writer and author of Dazzling Darkness, Godwyns Onwukechwa (London), founder of Justice for Gay Africans, and Canon Rosie Harper (London), vicar of Great Missenden and member of General Synod.

We are going to explore key issues – equal marriage, unconditional love, blessings in church, lay equality in ministry and leadership, clergy equality in ministry, and the Bible and theology.

We’ll celebrate the gifts LGB&T people bring to the Church – reconfiguring faith, truth telling, understanding sexuality and sexual relationships, questioning theology and the Bible, vision, energy, evolutionary ideas, personal transformation, varieties of ministry, creative liturgy and worship.

We are sending every bishop an invitation when writing to them in advance of the College of Bishops meeting on 27 January in the hope that having discussed the Pilling report, some will be motivated to join us.
