20yrs ago, Colin Coward dreamed up Changing Attitude along with Fr Bill Kirkpatrick in an effort to make the Church of England a better place for LGBTI people.
20yrs on I don’t think we’re alone in thinking, along with other organisations that it’s certainly a better world than it was back then. We still have far to go but thanks to Colin, we at Changing Attitude know exactly what we have left to do.
Colin has sometimes been the lone voice, the prophet, the agitator and irritant within the Church, imagining and calling forth a healthier, more inclusive and accepting place for LGBTI people .
He has continued the work of other courageous voices from the mid 1960’s when a healthy number of senior Church figures dared to speak out for equality and decriminalisation of homosexuality. Where are those senior Church voices now?
The Queen recognised Colin’s work last year with an MBE.
We’re not alone when we say, Colin, THANK YOU, for everything you’ve done. For the tears, pain, upset that you’ve gone through in order to achieve all you have. But don’t forget the joy, the laughter and the celebration as you move forward into whatever God has in store for you next!
Friday 31st July is Colin’s last day as Director of Changing Attitude, please do share your appreciation and thanks whether it be in person, on email or through social media.
